Volunteer

Volunteering is a great way to be a part of something truly meaningful.  You can help further the mission of The Arc of Spokane by participating in the programs listed below.

THE ARC COMMUNITY CENTER
The Community Center is a social and recreational activity center for adults with developmental disabilities.  Volunteers provide positive social interaction by simply being a friend.  Games, puzzles, crafts and other activities provide ample opportunity to brighten someone's day.  Community Center volunteers should be prepared to:
  •  Pass a criminal background check
  •  Work closely and positively with adults with developmental disabilities
To be a Community Center volunteer contact Kristie Sundheim at (509) 328-6326 or ksundheim@arc-spokane.org

THE ARC OF SPOKANE THRIFT STORE
Located at 808 N Ruby in Spokane, our thrift store help support programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Spokane County.  We need volunteers to work in our store, greeting customers, sorting goods, hanging merchandise, and providing customer service.  What a great way to gain valuable work skills while supporting an important cause in the community!  For more information, Amy Flaugher, Thrift Store Volunteer Coordinator, at (509) 822-7748.

HELPING PARENTS
For parents who have recently learned that their son or daughter has developmental disability, it's hard to know what to expect.  That's why The Arc's Parent to Parent program offers Helping Parents, experienced mothers and fathers who can offer resources, advice or just a listening ear.  To learn more about becoming a Helping Parent, contact Shelley Gacusana at (509) 328-6326 or sgacusana@arc-spokane.org.
